Common problems and solutions of deep hole processing

October 24, 2022

Common problems and solutions of deep hole processing:

Rough surface of hole

1. Chip bonding: reduce cutting speed; Avoid falling edge; Change the cutting fluid with high extreme pressure, and improve the filtration situation; Increase the pressure and flow of cutting fluid.

2. Bad coaxiality: adjust the coaxiality of machine tool spindle and drilling sleeve; Use suitable drill sleeve diameter.

3 cutting speed is too low, the feed is too large or uneven: the use of appropriate cutting parameters.

4. Inappropriate tool geometry: change the geometric Angle of cutting edge and the shape of guide block

The orifice is flared

Bad coaxiality: adjust the coaxiality of machine tool spindle, drilling sleeve and supporting sleeve; Adopt appropriate diameter of drill sleeve, and replace the drill sleeve with excessive wear in time.

Drilling Inserts

Bit broken

1. Chip is not good, chip can not be discharged: change the size of the chip slot, avoid too long, too shallow; Timely find the cutting edge, and replace; Increase the pressure and flow of cutting fluid; The workpiece with uniform material organization is adopted.

2 feed is too large, too small or uneven: the use of appropriate cutting parameters.

3. Excessive bit wear: Replace the bit regularly to avoid excessive wear.

4 cutting fluid is not suitable: select the appropriate cutting fluid and improve the filtration situation.

Bit life low

1 cutting speed is too high or too low, the feed is too large: the use of appropriate cutting parameters.

2. The drill bit is not suitable: replace the tool material; Change the position and shape of the guide block.

3. Cutting fluid is not suitable: change to cutting fluid with high extreme pressure; Increase the pressure and flow of cutting fluid; Improve cutting fluid filtration.

Other Problems:

Chip into ribbons: chip slot geometry is not suitable; The cutting edge geometry is not suitable; The feed is too small; Uneven material organization of workpiece: change the geometry of chip slot and cutting edge; Increase the amount of feed; The workpiece with uniform material organization is adopted.

Chip too small: chip slot is too short or too deep; Too small radius of chip break slot: change the geometry of chip break slot.

Chip too large: chip slot is too long or too shallow; Excessive radius of chip breaker: change the geometry of chip breaker
